"I AM..." is a story for young readers that takes place in the mid-1800s in both the southern part of the United States and West Africa—modern day Ghana. Told in 3 parts/books, the theme that rings throughout each story is that no matter who we are, no matter the dire and horrific situations we might experiences and endure—we are somebody. And we should be proud of who we are and where we come from—our roots.
A book for students grades 4-7, the story also provides historical facts and insights into the day-to-day life of African peoples before enslavement throughout the Americas.
