It retells the compelling historical and social impact of addiction and AIDS in our society through the lives of two forsaken people trying to accept who they are. This story needs to be told for us to understand how the human spirit can be deeply affected by devastating circumstances, such as AIDS, addiction and loss. With our projects we are proudly continue to represent and support fellow artists and organizations that live and work in Queens and use arts and culture to enrich and enliven our community.
The intended community impact of this project is to foster dialogue by creating and moving conversations amongst the audience and into the community. Our project will impact the audience by providing a forum for dialogue and feedback regarding our play that will allow them to be collaborating partners in the storytelling narrative of the play. Furthermore, we want to impact the theater community in Queens by increasing theatre representation by widening the road for greater opportunity for diverse artist to have a safe space to showcase their talent and strive in the theater industry. We want to make theater a vehicle that will impact our community by making theater more accessible and for it to reflect our community through unique narratives that, culturally, socially and emotionally resonates with them. Through our project, we want to be a catalyst that will make an impact for the next generation of performing artists in Queens to pursue successful careers in theater.
