About

Violinist Francesca Anderegg and composer Reinaldo Moya have collaborated over 15 years, recording Moya's compositions on albums like Wild Cities (New Focus Recordings, 2016) and Hearing It Getting Dark (Furious Artisans, 2020). Their new album, ida y vuelta, will consist of Moya’s violin works written for Anderegg, ranging from the grandeur of a concerto, to an intimate work for violin and piano, to an innovative work for violin and chamber ensemble. Each piece will be recorded in a unique setting. Vestida de mar, accompanied by a full orchestra of 60-70 people, will be recorded with artistic partners who specialize in recording contemporary concerti. Duende, for violin and piano, will be recorded in a Boston studio, and ida y vuelta, a forward-looking work for violin and chamber ensemble, will be recorded by expert performers on traditional Venezuelan instrumentals. All the works will be world premiere recording and add to both artists’ catalogues. The album is an important addition to an emerging repertoire of Latin American music that is neither classical nor folk, but unapologetically honors the roots of both.
