Living sculptures that grow shade in months, not decades

About

Ignea Labs is a creative studio at the intersection of living structures, digital memory, and regenerative systems. A tree takes decades to grow the shade our cities need. Ignea Labs grows it in months. We are a Denver studio building living structures: planted, walk-in sculptures of steel and metal mesh, designed to be filled with Colorado natives and engineered for Front Range snow, wind, and fire. They are free, outdoors, and made to be touched. Children reshape them, commuters sit in them, and neighbors treat them as a living room with no walls. Infinite Green, a living structure by our collaborating artist Adam Kalinowski, has stood for years in Poland, where summer temperatures measured inside it ran cooler than the surrounding air, with better humidity and air quality. Colorado is where Living Structures will be tested next. In 2027, we will research, prototype, build, and plant our first living structure in Denver, and film all of it. The process is shared on our website and YouTube channel, free to watch, so the knowledge doesn’t stay in the studio. A funded maintenance plan is built in from the first dollar, so what we build stays.
