"In Search of Magical Waters" is a pilot for a potential series of short, 27-minute docu-reality films on the creative lifestyles of artists in America.
Magical Waters will bring viewers into the world of nationally-acclaimed sporting artist and avid angler Adriano Manocchia, introducing the “sacred art of fly-fishing” and the power of “magical rivers” that inspire his life and paintings.
Cameras will follow Manocchia throughout the ups and downs of the creative process, from the unlimited potential of the blank canvas, through late-night sessions of doubt and frustration, to the rewards of perseverance and the finished painting showcased at an exhibition.
Interwoven into the creative process is the inspiration behind the work as the film crew joins the artist as an angler on the river with his fishing buddies, “looking for magical waters”- both for fishing and painting - and filming the challenges of bringing the zen-like experience of “being at one with nature” into the studio and putting it on canvas.
As stories and reminiscing unfold, there is also the underlying concern that the classic history and traditions of sporting life are slowly vanishing with each new generation, and a changing environment is threatening the future of the rivers.
From inspiration to technique to the final gallery exhibition, "In Search of Magical Waters" is an extraordinary excursion inside the creative mind of this master painter and environmentalist.
The mission of this film series is to bust through the sense of intimidation many people have about art and use that creative space to explore culture and the issues of our day, and even how we tackle everyday life.
"In Search of Magical Waters" is created, produced, directed, written and hosted by Serena Kovalosky of Artful Vagabond Productions LLC.
