About

In the Elevator, a powerful and internationally recognized solo play by New York-based Georgian playwright and screenwriter Otar Pertakhia, was selected for the prestigious United Solo Theatre Festival’s 2025 Fall Season at Theatre Row. Its first scheduled performance on November 22, 2025, sold out in just 14 days, an unprecedented milestone six months before opening. In response to this demand, the festival added a second performance on November 20, 2025, and the production was named one of the festival’s Best-Selling Shows.

Blending surrealism, absurdist comedy, and psychological realism, the play explores themes of isolation, fractured identity, and power through the story of a man trapped in an elevator both literally and metaphorically.

Your tax-deductible donation will directly support rehearsal space rental, set design, and technical costs for the premiere. Every contribution, large or small, helps bring this story to life on stage and share it with audiences who need to experience it.

We stand in solidarity with all who feel alone or unheard. With your support, this work can reach beyond the festival to additional performances in New York City and across the United States, and eventually to audiences worldwide. Make your contribution today and be part of this journey.
