WHO ARE WE?

Instrumental Theatre Company is an emerging Chicago Theatre Company. Our mission is to inspire harmony through ensemble storytelling crafted at the intersection of actors and musicians. We are multi-disciplinary artists interested in the many ways music and story collide. Actors, musicians, writers, composers, and everywhere in between, we dig into musically inspired storytelling to find new avenues for classics and generate new work as a collaborative group.

Instrumental Theatre Company launched officially with our sold out New Works Event at Uncommon Ground in March 2025. This one night event featured three new one act plays with music, as well as original work written and performed by members of the cast. Following the momentum from our successful launch, we are excited to tackle The Seagull by Anton Chekhov.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

This 90-minute adaptation will feature original music composed and performed by the cast, inspired by the Chekhov's incredible language. The lines between concert and play are blurred as the music weaves its way in and out of the story. Performed at the historic Berger Park Mansion on the shore of Lake Michigan, this production will be a one-of-a-kind Chicago theatre experience.
Our limited run takes place September 11th - 27th with performances at 7:00 PM on Thursdays and Fridays, Saturdays at 3:00. Seating is extremely limited per performance, to allow for a truly immersive theatrical experience. Tickets can be purchased in advance on our website.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Your contribution will help us to cover the costs associated with renting the mansion, rehearsal space, acquiring costumes and props, and most importantly compensating our artists. Our cast of 7 actors, a Director, a Dramaturg, a Stage Manager, and a Music Director are putting hours and hours of work into this show because they believe in creating something beautiful together, and your support means the world to each and every one of us.

Rewards

The Lake

Donate $1.00 or more

Amount is fully tax-deductible.

A friend once said to me in regards to Lake Michigan, "And the lake is what makes life worth living. It fills you up with life." And she was right. Any donation will help us fill this lake!
(Metaphorically...last we checked, the lake is still full of water.)

A donation of any amount will be acknowledged by including our expression of thanks in our program for this production.

The Stage

Donate $50.00 or more

Amount over $1.00 is tax-deductible.

A donation of at least $50 will help us set the stage where our story begins!
(Metaphorically...the stage is a metaphor in the show and we aren't "actually" building a physical stage, but that's part of the fun!)
All members at this level will be the proud new owners of a first batch of Instrumental Theatre Company stickers, in addition to being named in our program for this production.

The Mansion

Donate $100.00 or more

Amount over $1.00 is tax-deductible.

Help us build the house where our story continues!
(Again, metaphorically. The mansion we are performing in already exists, but you get the word play right?)

Any donation of at least $100 will receive an invitation to a dress rehearsal / meet and greet with the cast, an Instrumental Theatre Company sticker, and acknowledgement in our program for this production.
