Jessica Redish is an award-winning director, writer & choreographer currently in USC’s School of Cinematic Arts MFA Program. Her body of work ranges from contributing choreography to The Smashing Pumpkins' International Tour to having her short film “The Last Croissant” win Best Director at the Atlanta Comedy Film Festival, Best Comedy at the Los Angeles Comedy Film Festival & and featured on Funny or Die.
Medium referred to Jessica as a “rising star” because of her accomplishments with her award-winning short films. Her most recent short film, “AIRWAY” won Best Micro Comedy Film at the Women’s Comedy Film Festival in Atlanta and won Best Comedy at LA Under the Stars. Her music video “Brighter Days” recently won Best Music Video at the Apex Short Film + Music Video Festival.
Currently using her musical theatre background married with her filmmaking chops, she’s developing a project called “Exit, Pursued by a Bear” about the bear that was in her neighborhood for six months. The Chicago Tribune recently named Jessica’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along” as one of the top ten Sondheim productions in Chicago of the past 25 years, putting her on a shortlist with Hal Prince.
Jessica is also the winner of the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Choreography for “Silence! The Musical!” a musical parody of “The Silence of the Lambs.” Her work has been called “a masterpiece of coordination and choreography,” by Julie McHale of Time Out. Jessica graduated cum laude from Northwestern University where she received a Bachelor of Science, a Music Theatre Certificate and a minor in Slavic Literature.
Inspired by the work of Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Alma Har’el, Bob Fosse as well as Tony Winner David Cromer and Tony Nominee Michael Greif, both of whom she has had the honor to work with Off-Broadway, Jessica strives for detail, honesty, compulsion and her work has been described as "hilariously twisted” by the Hollywood Digest.
Jessica currently resides in Los Angeles where she tends to her “Golden Girls” Chia Pet.
