Jim Sanborn: Working Toward The Invisible

Jim Sanborn: Working Toward the Invisible will take the form of a nearly 200-page, fully illustrated book exploring Jim Sanborn’s unique artistic vision, which has spanned sculpture, photography, and multimedia formats from the 1970s to the present. A distinguished, interdisciplinary group of scholars will be commissioned to produce new texts about Sanborn’s work, which has merged visual art and science to explore such powerful but obscure forces as geological phenomena, covert government operations, nuclear technology, and the black markets of looted and forged antiquities. Additional materials will include a life and career chronology, source texts, and an interview with the artist. The publication will be the definitive statement on Sanborn’s contributions to contemporary art undertaken with the active participation of the artist.
