Hilary Dennis and Costanza Bugiani, here. Together, we are Junkyard Shakespeare, an independent theatre project based out of Northampton, MA that specializes in raw, exciting, and nourishing adaptations of Shakespeare. Thank you for being here.

Last year, we developed sweet prince, a one-woman, 60-minute interactive adaptation of Hamlet that invites members of the audience to step in as the missing characters. It's a real play on Hamlet's timeless question about being or not being, participating or remaining passive.

The audience response was overwhelming.
"There were so many ways it was more fresh than anything I've seen in recent memory."
"I was aghast at how well it worked."
"Really, tragedy has never been so clever or funny."

This year, we are taking sweet prince on a Northeast tour.
Being a working professional in the theatre these days means producing your own work, and continuing to get creative about finding wider audiences for your own work. It means wearing many hats and taking giant leaps of faith into foggy realms. I didn't know how to produce a tour until we started producing a tour. We love sweet prince so much and want to share it with more people. So we're jumping in the car and bringing it to Boston, Portland, Scranton, and New York City.

Culture Lab LIC is generously donating their space to us rent-free - hence the production credit!
To be or not to be...in it. Will you join us?
This is Junkyard's first tour ever - and we want you in the car with us.
The first way you can participate in sweet prince (before we even step on stage) is by contributing to this campaign. Pitching in some gas money. Helping us hang the lights. Rent the space. Sell the tickets. Print the posters. Buy insurance. Pay our people. Theatre really doesn't happen without a community; this show wouldn't exist without an audience actively and joyfully participating. Thank you for helping us bring this show to you in more ways than one.
The budget for our Northeast tour is $11,000.
See our budget breakdown below. Because I like to build in a cushion for surprise expenses, we are raising a bit more than our total.

We love fundraising and we love making theatre. Collectively, Costanza and I have raised over $40,000 since 2021 to pay actors a living wage and bring Shakespeare to life through productions of Macbeth (The Workroom at 33 Hawley), Hamlet (La MaMa NYC), As You Like It (South St., Northampton), and Sweet Prince (The Workroom at 33 Hawley). We are committed to an approach to Shakespeare that is clear, surprising, and fresh.
Because Fractured Atlas is our fiscal sponsor, your donation is tax deductible.
