About

During the first half of my life, our 2SLGBTQ+, BIPoc & Latine/x, women and gender non-binary stories and spaces were only available in larger cities and hidden neighborhoods. During the second half, I am surrounded by an abundance of information, resources, books, stories, podcasts, movies, music,  spaces by and about 2SLGBTQ+, BiPoc & Latine/x, women and gender non-binary folxs. But today, we are under attack, again.

As a response to both eras so vivid in my heart, and the current climate -  I created La Otra Taller Nepantla as a safe space for artists and healers to collaborate, rest, heal, learn and build fruitful, future reciprocal relationships and momentum in their work. Anzaldua's death came too soon, and it has been said, could have been avoided if there were more systems of care and wellness available for her and so many other amazing artists, creators and healers who we have lost. La Otra Taller is for our artists today and tomorrow; for their health, for their bodies and for our futures. Please become a monthly donor.

Inspired by Gloria E. Anzladúa’s 1995, Taller Nepantla - La Otra Taller Nepantla is a free one month, creative residency for  2SLGBTQ+, BIPoc & Latine/x, women and gender non-binary South Texas artists and healers of all disciplines to heal, create and ignite fresh momentum in their projects and practices. La OT offers space for creatives to nurture individual projects, invest in old practices, develop new routines, create new work, or simply have fresh air to breathe in which to percolate on ideas, while also offering opportunities for constructive feedback from their cohort and guest speakers. With an additional goal of strengthening the archive of South Texas, the work of each cohort and their guest mentors, will be collected and published in a full color zine and made available to digital and print audiences.
