Lisa Marie Rollins is a writer, freelance director and new play developer. In 2019, she directed
INKED BABY by Christina Anderson and the World Premiere of
Idris Goodwin’s American Prom. Her other credits includ the West Coast Premiere of
Tearrance Chisholm’s HOODED: Being Black for Dummies . Most recently her new play LOVE IS ANOTHER COUNTRY
was produced by Coin&Ghost Theatre Company in Los Angeles. She is a
Directors Lab West member
and a Directing Fellow in the
Sundance Institute Theatre Lab. She is a recipient of multiple awards for her playwriting, poetry and theater production work. She has been a writing fellow with
Djerassi, S
an Francisco Writers Grotto, CALLALOO London, VONA Writing Workshop, Just Theater Play Lab and Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency and just received the Wallace Gerbode Special Award in the Arts for Playwriting.
Regional directing and dramaturg work include: American Conservatory Theater MFA program(SF), Berkeley Repertory’s Ground Floor, Crowded Fire Theater, Playwright Foundation, Shotgun Players, Custom Made Theatre, TheatreFirst, Playground at Berkeley Rep, San Francisco Playhouse, TheatreWorks in Colorado Springs, CO; new plays by Lauren Gunderson, Geetha Reddy, Idris Goodwin, Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm, Min Khang, Philana Omorotionmwan and creative collaborations with comedic artists W. Kamau Bell and Zahra Noorbakash.
She holds graduate degrees from Claremont Graduate University and University of California, Berkeley and is a Distinguished Guest Artist Faculty at a local university in Performance Studies. She is currently a Resident Artist with
Crowded Fire Theater and Artist-in-Residence at
BRAVA Theater for Women in San Francisco. Her new book of poems,
“Other Words for Grief” is NEWLY RELEASED from Finishing Line Press. She is
