LIVING is an upcoming short film written by and starring Anika Meeusen and directed by Carley Lovito.

The script for LIVING was given an Honorable Mention at Big Apple Film Festival's Screenplay Competition (2024) and was a Semi-Finalist in Manhattan Short's Screenplay Festival (2024)

The film focuses on Helena, an immigrant mother from Taiwan, who is forced to confront the life she left behind through the eyes of her estranged sister, Sage. After 17 years of separation, the sisters reunite for the first time in Helena's new home in Upstate New York in the summer of 2008. Through this act of reunion, both sisters come face to face with their own realities and struggle to find the bond that once existed between them. 

In this short film, we explore the unspoken complexities of immigration, assimilation, what it means to confront abandonment, and the delicate dance of family.
