Our first season in the Fall of 2024 will open with a full production of LADY CAPULET by Melissa Bell. What caused the feud between the Montagues and Capulets? Nominated for “Best Adaptations & Modernizations of 2020 and 2021” by New York Shakespeare and Henley Rose Playwrights Competition Finalist, LADY CAPULET, a prequel to Romeo and Juliet, follows the journey of Rose from country girl to matriarch, navigating her repression and power in an era when social class, family, money, and gender meant everything.
Longhill Arts Collaborative will partner with the originating actors, musicians, and directors of Barefoot Shakespeare Company to workshop LADY CAPULET on site and present a pop-up production at The Barn in September 2024. The property offers a unique opportunity to present the play in an immersive manner at varying locations that will enhance the audience’s experience as they experience this story of romance, swordfights, parties, betrayal, and revenge. Inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, this original play, written by Melissa Bell puts a woman as the center “tragic character” and provides a woman’s perspective to Shakespeare’s most popular tragedy. Performances will be open to the public.
Tickets will be set at an affordable level of $25.00 with discounts for seniors, students and families.
