I experience art-making as a form of interactive connection with the Harlem NYC community within which I live: teaching the children and elders to trust their own creativity; creating environments of worship and celebration; making objects for use in spiritual contemplation and striving; constructing tangible functional vehicles of love, aspiration, protest, sorrow and loss. Drawn to both the simplicity and the richness of symbol, familiar or suggestive, I strive to make art to live with and give freely of. With this tangible fragment of something elusive literally in hand, may you be propelled toward the unnamable yet deeply known, momentarily cracking open to that which always is, then continuing on your way.
