Maitri River Production is a Dallas-based production company producing art for social change.  Our work intends to create high quality broadcast media productions which inform and inspire.
  

A documentary feature film which follows the story of the family of a terminally-ill person and their end of life celebration for their loved one centered around an in-home musical concert.  The story expands to include many related topics on aging, hospice care, and dying in America.
 
The film follows social media medical influencer J Mack Slaughter, MD as he works to produce an end of life celebration with a Moonshot Concert... a dream concert for the family and friends of terminally ill patient. Through the process, social media medical influencers Tiffany Moon, MD, Bayo Curry-Winchell, MD, Sanjay Juneja, MD and hospice professional Ryan Shaw examine the personal and cultural impacts of dying in America.   Moonshot Concert examines how we die in America, how we treat the aging and how to die right in America.

Moonshot Concert is in the development phase.  When funded, Moonshot Concert will enter production late in 2025/2026.

Abundant

Abundant is a  feature-length documentary film about the human experience of giving.  The film stars non-directed living kidney donors: these are people who have donated a kidney to a complete stranger. They are considered our society’s most extreme altruists.  The content in their stories is further explored through the commentary of national- and internationally recognized experts who have given interviews for Abundant.  These experts include Nobel Prize Laureate Alvin Roth, PhD, Ned Brooks, Founder of The National Kidney Donation Organization, Harvey Mysel, Founder of the Living Kidney Donors Network and more.

 

As part of this production, Maitri River Productions produced CrowdSource for Life, a staged theatrical production featuring the cast of 13 living kidney donors.  Staged in a historic Dallas landmark, The Majestic Theater, the monologue performances of the kidney donor cast will be recorded by a full film crew for Abundant.  By expressing the human-interest stories surrounding living kidney donation, Abundant will expand national awareness of the benefits of living kidney donation, while entertaining its audience.   

Abundant is in the distribution phase and will world premiere in Hollywood in March, 2025.  This world premiere will kick off a national theatrical tour of screening events.
