Beauty horror - it’s our thing. We’ve been fascinated by the intricacies of horror vs. beauty and beauty within horror since our first production in 2018 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Typically, we’ve allowed for a sense of distance, as we’ve set the shows and films we’ve produced in the past. But recently, the rapidly intensifying pull towards inviting the public into every aspect of private life through social media sparked a different thought. What if, instead of delving into disturbing myths, tales, and folklore from the past, we wrapped these terrifying realities around ourselves in the present? What if the fear comes from something we love? A passion that has grown too intense with a fan base that knows no boundaries. As we started digging into the current social media streaming culture, we found the lines between public & private/reality & fiction to be ever-blurred. This is the fertile soil on which we began to cultivate @make_us_scream; a glimpse into a world saturated with social media, and a friend group willing to go the distance for a life-changing opportunity, while dancing closely with the central question, “At what cost?”.
