About

Support Making Meaning, a three-day symposium exploring new perspectives on collage history and current approaches to curating, publishing, and making. Through presentations, workshops, and exhibitions, the symposium brings together artists, curators, publishers, and historians to examine how meaning is constructed, disrupted, and reimagined through collage practices. The convening will be accompanied, Transforming Collage—Hudson Valley, a constellation of curated exhibitions at Hudson Valley institutions, including Vassar College’s James Palmer Gallery and The Loeb Art Center, Dutchess Community College’s Mildred Washington Gallery, Millbrook Arts Project at The Millbrook Library, Gallery40 in Poughkeepsie, NY and 68 Prince Street in Kingston, NY. These exhibitions will serve as case studies for symposium discussions while broadening public engagement with collage works in form.
