"Matched" is a half hour comedic TV pilot inspired by my real world experience working as an elite matchmaker in New York City.
Overview:
Ex -playwright turned elite matchmaker Diana is plagued by medical bills and on the brink of losing her job. Desperate, she uses her wealthy clients’ list of impossible romantic demands as casting breakdowns, hires her broke actor friends to portray these “dream dates,” and inadvertently… launches an underground empire.
Initially vowing to work this dating scam only until her medical bills are paid, our matchmaker soon struggles to get out of the game. Not only is the money good, but the actors are doing their best work in years! Throughout the series, Diana will battle the suspicions of rival matchmakers, the egos of needy actors, and the unrealistic expectations of her 1% clients as she strives to turn a profit and stay out of jail.
Think "Sex and The City" meets "Breaking Bad."
I'm Dominique, and I worked as a professional Manhattan matchmaker. While this TV show is based on my real world experience, the premise is fictional, I promise! To be clear: I never committed fraud!
During this time in my life, I was working as a matchmaker and an artist, so I was straddling two very different socio-economic worlds. While my artist friends were struggling to feed themselves, my matchmaking clients were overanalyzing their date's tax brackets. This jarring disconnect inspired this series.
This show has it all: jokes, social commentary, and a whole lot of heart! The story revolves around deep human desires: companionship, fulfillment, and survival. MATCHED has the glitz and glamor to keep audiences entertained and the emotional heart to make them consider how we place people in boxes and forget about our shared humanity.
After sitting with this project for over five years, we're finally taking the bull by the horns and independently shooting a Proof of Concept for this matchmaking heist show! We have an incredible team of professionals onboard, and all of the funds raised from this campaign will go towards brining this project to life. We need your help to get this project off the ground!
