Ex-playwright turned elite matchmaker, Diana is plagued by medical bills and on the brink of losing her job. Desperate, she uses her wealthy clients' lists of impossible romantic demands as casting descriptions, hires her broke actor friends to portray these “dream dates,” and inadvertently launches an underground empire. 

Initially vowing to work this dating scam only until her medical bills are paid, our matchmaker soon struggles to get out of the game! (Not only is the money good, but the actors are doing their best work in years!) Throughout the series, Diana will battle the suspicions of rival matchmakers, the egos of needy actors, and the unrealistic expectations of her 1% clients as she strives to turn a profit and stay out of jail. 

MATCHED uses the glitz and glamor of high-end matchmaking to keep audiences entertained while exploring universal human desires: companionship, fulfillment, and survival. Ultimately, the show illuminates how far the farce of dating can go when we focus too much on a checklist and fail to see the human being sitting right in front of us.

For those of you who don’t know me, I'm Dominique, and I've worked as an independent artist in NYC for over a decade. I have my MFA in Acting, toured a solo show across the country and to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, worked both onstage and in writer’s rooms, and have self produced small on-camera projects.

While the show is partially inspired by my real-world experience, the premise is entirely fictional, I promise! To be clear: I never committed fraud! However, during this time in my life I was working as both a matchmaker and an artist, so I was straddling two very different worlds. My artist friends were struggling to feed themselves. My matchmaking clients were overanalyzing their date's tax brackets. That jarring disconnect inspired me to write this fictional series.

For the past few years I have been working with a production company to pitch this show to various industry folks. While we've gotten great feedback, we're now at the stage where we need a proof of concept short to gain more traction. Also, I personally feel that as an artist, I need to bring at least a slice of this project into the world. Because after all: death is coming for all of us, and while we’re breathing we should at least make some art!
