MUVA is a project that I have very thoughtfully developed through my graduate studies at The New School. As my final requirement to obtain a Masters in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship from The New School MUVA is two part socially engaged artistic capstone project.
The mission of MUVA, is to nurture the creative forces of Black Performing artists who M/Other by creating a workshop-to-stage collaborative pathway. I am taking inspired steps in my research and community outreach as I bring together my artistic collaborators and support for my project which entails A workshop and A showcase.
As an ARTIST // MOTHER and as an engaged community member, I am poised to create and envision a better, more inclusive, performing arts industry. I have found that there are currently very few systems, venues, grants, and residency/fellowship opportunities that actively support Black performing artists who m/other [+ families].

My hope is that my more than 20 years of dedication to my craft & the art of performing will show with this launch. I am often asked how I do it all as a new mom! Call me crazy- I have faith and know my steps are being ordered to bring me closer to a turning point in my career!
I have worked incredibly hard and I am prepared to share my original work with the world on this next larger scale. I am charged with the mission to open doors and invite others along on my artful journey in the hopes to inspire and support other mothers along the way.

What : My song "Mama Says" introduced in a simplified acoustic version to the group as a play on the popular kids game "Simon Says". Instead of elimination, like the old school game "Simon Says" , "Mama Says" aims to help children reassess, reevaluate, course correct and self correct in the game- A necessary life skill! This supports the notion of "failing forward" and learning from mistakes, creating a more supportive environment where positive redirection and integration of lessons is supported through music and play.
2. MUVA The Show // #MUVAtheshow
MUVA is an Afro-futuristic, live, immersive music and dance performance artwork that features my original compositions, songwriting, visual art, costuming and choreographic work.
Upon entrance- The room is dimly lit with interstellar projections in the space. A cast of devotees roam through the crowd sharing essential oils, divine lotions as elevating potions, libations are served, a specially curated MUVA DJ set is creating positive vibrations and inspiring gyrations before the live music of MUVA takes us on a musical journey where we get to experience AfroTurk Soul music- my unique fusion of West African rhythms, Turkish melodies and jazz.
