The Meristem Artist Retreat is a virtual space for artists of marginalized genders, including women, trans individuals, femme-identifying, and nonbinary folks, to gather and collectively grow. This retreat is unique because it allows artists to participate flexibly and from home as they engage with other creators across the country and internationally. We offer a variety of sessions to cultivate positive community building, wellness, and personal exploration as artists develop healthy mindsets and habits to integrate within their creative practices. We aim to counteract the trope that artists need to suffer to create great art, instead facilitating each artist’s process of discovering what they can do when they feel wholly balanced and healthful.
Artists and our arts communities need support as we emerge from this pandemic and our retreat is a space for them to find nourishment, support, and guidance. Your contributions in this campaign will go towards each artist's experience and cover retreat operations. With your support, all artists will be able to benefit from this retreat at no cost.
Their experience during our Summer 2021 virtual artist retreat will include:
-Multiple artist talks and masterclasses with a diverse roster of invited guest artists at the height of their respective fields
-Personally designed wellness classes for artists of all disciplines (including yoga, meditation, and coaching)
-Peer mentorship by our staff, instructors, and other participating artists
-Individualized administrative support by our dedicated staff
-Lifetime access to our community sourced database of shared resources including wellness instruction videos, recordings of our guest artists talks and masterclasses, and specialized literature.
