MICRO is building a fleet of six-foot-tall science museums that are installed in everyday spaces like hospital waiting rooms, transit hubs, and community centers, transforming them into free interactive learning environments.
Donating to MICRO helps our team get museums into new communities from the Lower East Side to the Bronx, Brooklyn and beyond. Reaching people in their daily lives, your donation takes someone on a journey back in time to when humans were underwater worms and nautiluses ruled the oceans, or zooms them from their cooling coffee cup out to the edge of the visible universe.
We all want to understand the world we live in. Museums are important sources of knowledge, but their impact is currently limited. They cluster in traditional areas of privilege, and are often expensive to enter. In New York City, Manhattan has 85 museums. The Bronx has 8. The boroughs have the same population.
MICRO brings free, award-winning museum experiences into places that everyone can access.
MICRO’s team of designers, storytellers, and engineers work with scientists from leading research institutions to develop museums that open up windows onto the amazing world we live in. Already reaching tens of thousands of visitors, MICRO is changing what it means to visit the museum.
How can you help? Donate to MICRO to support our mission, or reach out to connect us to communities you think need a MICRO museum (micro.ooo/request-museum-form), or with organizations who want to help everyone have access to award-winning science education experiences. We look forward to being in a community near you.
