Modern Opera Company - General Fund

MARY-A MUSICAL is the first official workshop being produced by Modern Opera Co. It is a feminist re-telling of the story of Mary Magdalene and her journey from bitter isolation to love and acceptance. Our project is intended to be both a workshop edition of the show and the West Coast premiere of its current iteration. We will present two semi-staged performances of the work with the goal being to create future interest in this new musical as well as attracting more creators and performers who want to bring new musical works to life in a workshop setting. 
Our company seeks to enhance the musical and theatrical landscape of Southern California by providing an intimate space to workshop new operas and musical theater pieces, focusing extensively on creators from marginalized communities. We wish to be a safe place of connection for composers and performers to realize their artistic goals for works in progress. 
Our vision is to promote new operatic and musical theater works while showcasing the diverse, passionate, local talent in the Los Angeles area.
