Murder! By Pasties: The Rhinestone Crime Spree is an original, fully improvised, audience-participatory burlesque murder mystery, in which the audience investigates the murder of fading burlesque icon Maxine Midnight, the diva of the Foxglove Theater. Every show is different, using game mechanics inspired by the board game Clue. Building on an established four-show run across the Pacific Northwest, the project's next phase is The Rhinestone Crime Spree Tour: a five-city West Coast run through Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Reno in March–April 2027, pairing a touring core company of three with seven locally cast performers---prioritizing trans, non-binary, queer, disabled, Black, indigenous, and other performers of color---in each city. The project intends to keep ticket prices accessible so the communities the show is created for and with aren't priced out of attending, while creating paid, prioritized work for local marginalized performers in each tour stop.
