The Museum of Everyday Life is a continually evolving work which frames the grassroots museum as a potential tool of transformation, encouraging the exploration and analysis of our relationships to ordinary objects and the mundane lives of ordinary people. Our purpose is a slow-motion cataloging of life via objects of no monetary value yet immense consequence. The Museum offers a detailed, theatrical expression of delight in the banal but beloved objects we touch everyday. In addition to a robust and ever-expanding permanent collection, our special featured exhibits have explored ordinary objects such as the safety pin, the pencil, locks and keys, mirrors, dust, and the match. The creation of these special featured exhibits involves the input of many people, from neighbors to college students, from fanatical collectors to local artists and performers, all of whom donate their time helping to construct exhibits, maintain and improve the buildings and grounds, advertise, and perform at openings and events.
