The purpose of our project is to open and develop an art center in a community that has an emerging interest in the cultivation of the creative arts. Myth Complex Art House was formed to be a “full service art house” with the intention of developing a legacy of creative inspiration by bringing the community to the arts and art to the community, allowing all individuals an outlet to express themselves with visual arts in a safe, non-critical environment. We want to share our relationship with art by demonstrating how professional artists collaborate in the studio and gallery. Our facility will offer a wide range of services including but not limited to; a fine art screenprint studio, photography and video studio, mentoring youth and adult artists, visiting and artist in residence program, documentation and presentation of artwork, exhibition gallery with storefront. Myth Complex Art House makes art available by providing a safe place to explore in an interactive, empowering process that contributes to health and wellness. Our facility can be a therapeutic venue for many community populations; children, seniors, underprivileged, emotionally or mentally challenged and learning disabled. These persons can create to express their feelings through hands-on experience, allowing them to process loss, grief, anger and/or trauma. All are welcome to participate in the discovery of their own creativity. Tapping into each person’s childlike creativity and challenging the public to interact and contribute to the artistic process is what we call “Art In Reverse”. In one-on-one instruction participants are asked to play with and explore the materials. With this new perspective they are encouraged to invite friends to participate in the collaborative atmosphere where the studio becomes a playground and artists function as directors, guiding a team effort, much like a theatrical process, where the outcome is the result of a group effort. In conclusion, Myth Complex Art House is a unique concept that will contribute to the community providing a safe place to explore who you are through creativity: art as interactive, healing and available to all.
