Nashville Dance Collective empowers local dance and movement artists in Nashville and the Southern Midwest region by providing accessible and equitable programs that ensure a healthier work-life balance for artists and community-enriching performances and education for the public. We believe in cultivating love and respect for the Arts in sustainable creative, administrative, and athletic foundations that develop alongside the artistic freedom and risk they support.

It shouldn’t be absurd to ask a professional athlete to prepare and showcase their talent for the enrichment of our community for no salary, healthcare, or time-off, while working multiple other jobs to cover those non-essentials. Except - it is. Yet you can always find another dance artist forced to make that choice - lacking a prudent way to hold hiring organizations accountable without losing opportunities to share their profession and art: dance. A profession that requires years of costly training, education, and experience; an art that necessitates continuous diligence, development, and personal investment to create culture, entertainment, and education that can touch all corners of a community. Dance is currently unsustainable for local Nashville artists. NDC’s work bridges the enormous quality-of-life gap between small, grassroots dance organizations and large, national organizations. We create sustainable platforms for dance artists to freely and safely take artistic risks and enrich Nashville’s culture and community through creative, meaningful art performance and education without the cost of the artist’s well-being or at the financial cost of the public. Art and dance should be accessible to all, but dance artists should be compensated properly. It should be absurd to ask otherwise.
