Nelli Shkolnikova Academy

Strings and piano, solo and chamber music Summer retreat.

Nelli Shkolnikova was one of the 20th Century's greatest violinists, even though she never received the international recognition she was due. She was also an extraordinary and devoted professor and taught for many years at Indiana University, Bloomington. Since her passing in 2010, her former students who are now professional musicians across the globe have decided to honor her legacy by establishing an academy in her name. The festival academy takes place in August at the Château de Flocelliere in France and talented young students have the opportunity to work intensively with students of Nelli Shkolnikova who pass on her traditions to the next generation. The faculty have taken on this project entirely on their own, and are organizing it with their own funds. The goals are to keep the tuition as low as possible to allow a diverse number of students to participate and to make the academy sustainable for many years in the future.
