Nicholas Phan Recording Projects

Tenor Nicholas Phan is seeking funding for his ongoing solo recording projects.

Current recording projects in development include a continuation of the Britten/Pears project I have already begun with my first two solo albums (I wish to record the entire song repertoire that Benjamin Britten composed for his life-partner, Peter Pears); short video projects involving performances of art song in unusual settings; and an album of German Lieder based on myths, legends and fairy tales (scheduled for release in early 2017).

Other planned future projects in development are an album of scared arias by Bach and Handel, as well as an album of vocal/orchestral works by Mozart, Stravinsky, and Britten.

Named one of National Public Radio’s Favorite New Artists of 2011, Nicholas Phan continues to distinguish himself as one of the most compelling young tenors appearing on the prestigious concert and opera stages of the world today.

Mr. Phan’s most recent album, 'A Painted Tale', (the first produced as part of this Fractured Atlas project) was named one of the "Best Classical Albums of 2015" by the Chicago Tribune. His first solo album, 'Winter Words', made many “Best of 2011” lists including those of the New York Times, The New Yorker, Time Out New York, Boston Globe and the Toronto Star. His growing discography includes the Grammy-nominated recording of Stravinksy’s Pulcinella, with Pierre Boulez and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; world premiere recordings of Elliott Carter's song cycle, 'A Sunbeam's Architecture' and Evan Chambers' song cycle, 'The Old Burying Ground'; a DVD of Bach's 'St. Matthew Passion' with Ensemble Orchestral de Paris; a recording of the opera, 'L’Olimpiade', with the Venice Baroque Orchestra; and his second solo album, 'Still Falls the Rain', listed by the New York Times as one of the “Best Classical Albums of 2012”.
