About

Nightingale Theatre Collective aims to create a vibrant community of interdisciplinary artists united by a shared creative practice. Through creative exploration, dialogue, collaborative development, and a nurturing process, we empower individual and collective artistic visions, nurturing them from inception to full realization. We kickstart this journey by engaging with local organizations through workshops and involving community artists in the development of our current project:  From Salon to Stage: The Dark Beauty of Titus Andronicus

This project is part of the developmental series for TITUS ANDRONICUS: A Southern
Gothic Tale,
offering a deep dive into the themes of Shakespeare’s most brutal tragedy
through salons and performance. The first salon, "The Unholy Fool: Laughter,
Blasphemy, and Transformation,"
explores the archetype of the clown and its
connection to the Clown in Titus Andronicus. The second salon, "Spectacle &
Suffering: Why We Crave Violence in Art,"
examines society’s fascination with brutality
in theatre, art and film. The project culminates in "Silence and Blood: Staging the
Unspeakable,"
an immersive theatre workshop that investigates the raw brutality and
poetic violence of Titus Andronicus. Through movement, sound, and innovative staging
techniques, this workshop offers a hands-on exploration of how theatrical
violence—both graphic and stylized—resonates with audiences. By deconstructing and
reimagining Shakespeare’s most harrowing moments, the project challenges artists
and audiences to confront the lasting impact of violence in storytelling.
By blending theatrical experimentation, public dialogue, and scholarship, From Salon to
Stage
serves as a dynamic public arts education initiative, fostering critical
engagement with the intersection of performance, violence, and cultural expression.
