About

Niswosakit is an independent open source intelligence project about Woonsocket, Rhode Island, made as a work of design and data. It takes the public record of one small post industrial city and builds it into something a person can see and move through, a visual and interactive work rather than a report. The work is produced as a serialized compendium, released one focus at a time and free to everyone. A focus takes whatever form fits it. Some are interactive data visualizations and maps. One is a procedural, interactive 3D model of the city, generated from public aerial and LiDAR scans and rendered as an original creative work, not a commercial mapping product. Others are zines, printed and digital, or written Issues that follow a single question through the evidence. Each piece carries its own visual identity and typography. Behind all of it is an open data page where every figure traces back to its public source, so the work stays verifiable. The audience is the people of Woonsocket first, then students, local press, and anyone trying to understand the city. Everything is free, carries no advertising, and shows its sources. The record that shapes daily life in Woonsocket is open on paper but hard for a resident to read, and this project turns it into something people can see, understand, and use at no cost.
