ONE CHERRY DEEP is a genre-bending novel that explores the porous boundaries between storytelling, theatre, and lived experience. Set in Seattle and the human habitats of the Salish Sea, it follows journalist Deep Cherry, who stumbles into a barter economy of narrative exchange—trading tales for shelter and survival. As she navigates this world, Deep becomes an unwitting investigator of storytelling itself: Who owns a story? Who gets to revise it? What happens when truth is overwritten by performance?
The audio book will be a full-cast recording over 50 of Seattle's amazingly talented professional actors. Working with stage and sound director, David Gassner, we will record actors at his home studio and in professional studios when necessary, over most of 2026. We will release the audio book in time for the holidays, 2026.
Fundraising will include on-line crowdfunding, in-person benefits, appeals to deep-pocket arts patron angels and even some corporate sponsorship. Other services and materials will be received as in-kind donations.
