Outta Bounds Productions began in early 2018 as "Theatre Out of Bounds" when Joe Rubino and Scott Johnston went to the leadership at Studio Theatre Long Island and asked to put on a secondary season of avant-garde, strange, off-kilter plays that Long Island audiences are deprived of. The word soon caught on and houses were packed. Executive Director Andrew J. Beck and Managing Director Nikki Silva were added to the team. Further success came at the theatre with productions such as Guirgis' Mother$%^er With the Hat, Bogosian's SubUrbia, and an adapted version of George A. Romero's classic horror film Night of the Living Dead. Founding Artistic Director Joe Rubino has mounted this production 4 times.
Then COVID hit... we split from Studio Theatre Long Island and joined forces with Long Island Theatre Collective, an organization that had similar voices, similar missions and put on similar shows. As a dual theatre company organization, The Collective put on more ground-breaking shows, along with special events like Fall Festival 2020 and 2021, Moliere's Tartuffe, Lee Blessing's Down the Road, and various 10 minute play events and sketch comedy shows. With Rubino and Johnston gone, Executive Director Andrew J. Beck has reshaped the company even further, giving it a bright and hopeful future.
In 2023, we moved Outta Bounds Productions to Brooklyn where it currently is located. We invite you to come see what we've been working on. We are always accepting original works submissions and actor inquiries for future productions.
