I composed much music during the pandemic times, vocal and instrumental. Now I'm asking for your support to sponsor recordings and performances. I believe in these works; people deserve to hear them. One exciting, big project is a concerto for organ and orchestra. We have the instrument and performers lined up in Croatia for a commercial recording and release. Another is my suite for flute and guitar, commissioned by a fine flautist and ready to premiere. Then there are choral works, including an extended setting of Walt Whitman's Joy, Shipmate, Joy! That and other pieces are waiting to bring solace and inspiration to our troubled world. It's so gratifying to think of being together again to hear and perform music — and to imagine outstanding performers earning professional income again.
"I pierce the darkness with a note" comes from James Weldon Johnson's poem The Gift to Sing. He inspires us with the power of song to dispel gloom and build resilience. It's in music that I found comfort and energy during the dark times when the coronavirus besieged us. I believe in music as the universal language to help us connect and move forward together. In that spirit, I hope to share these compositions with the world.
