We lived the dream.
In Fall 2022 Pittsboro Youth Theater (PYT) celebrated 10 years in operation! In early January 2023 our Elite Ensemble of terrific kid actors, singers and dancers won the greatest youth theater honor in the world. They earned "Outstanding Performance" at the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA and performed before 7,000 youth-theater-loving people from around the globe.
2-weeks later our organization collapsed under terrible weight of good, scheming, self-centered, cheating, sheepish and/or just plain rotten people in our "sweet" little place in the universe.

Our own Center for the Arts Pittsboro and Sweet Bee Theater was the one and only public theater, teaching, rehearsal and performance facility in Chatham County.
Enriching the lives of families in our community was at the core of everything we did. We were delighted often, every time someone described our facility as "home", and us "like family." It happened a lot.
Talented children and adults came from all over a time or two or more every week to teach, learn, practice and perform their arts (acting, music and/or dance). Everyone was welcome, standards were high and love was in the air.
We were almost entirely self-funded by 2 pretty darned poor people. COVID just about killed us but we made it and bounced back bigger and stronger than ever.
It's hard to say what was special about PYT--probably senceless dedication.
