Playful Substance envisions a dynamic space for the development of adult artists and new theatrical works. Each person who walks through our door is invited to see themselves as an artist contributing to the culture of the room and the experience of the moment. You are a vessel for creativity and you deserve a place to play.
Our goal is to promote the value of artistic practice among adults and support the growth of indie theatre through radically accessible programming and outreach.
We offer weekly and monthly Writers' Groups for playwrights and screenwriters, memoir workshops, a rotating roster of special workshops and community events where audiences are invited to witness and participate in the creative process, play development, private coaching, podcasts, and fully staged productions. All of these projects begin inside of our community and act as an invitation to your creative life.
Playful Substance is a big idea. There are multiple points of entry, each with different levels of engagement and possible pathways for personal and artistic growth inside a supportive and inclusive community.
