PM Theater

PM Theater is a unique NYC based theater company that refuses to stay silent in the time of war

About

Thank you for your interest in The Singing Windmills. The production explores the life and work of the legendary Solomon Mikhoels, a Soviet Jewish actor, the artistic director of the Moscow State Jewish Theater and the chairman of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee. Written by Roman Freud and directed by a celebrated Israeli actor/director Gera Sandler, the play attempts to make sense of and restore the lives and art of legendary heroes, whose breath was cut short and whose legacy was erased. It ponders eternal questions, the fate of an artist, the secrets behind inspiration and the price which one is willing to pay for it.

By many accounts, The Singing Windmills became one of the most important NYC theatrical events of 2022. After 2 almost fully Sold-Out Off-Broadway runs in NYC and a fully Sold-Out tour to San Francisco, this show is way more than a simple night of theater. It's an experience which is hard to describe in one word. It is both educational and healing; timely and necessary. Never more so, than now. We have supported this theater piece with educational talkbacks and programs created specifically around the production, both at Russian-Jewish conferences and on different platforms within the community. We believe that this universe that we created has real potential, and a very important mission to serve.

Last year, with a percentage of the proceeds from the ticket sales, we were able to raise and donate $20,000 to aid the humanitarian effort in the war-torn Ukraine. I believe that we can help more Russian-speaking Jewish people in the United States with our art and raise more funds to help the folks who are struggling abroad. We hope to take this show on tour of approximately seven major US cities, where we'll be able to both educate people about the life and art of Solomon Mikhoels, as well as promote ways we as people can continue to help those struggling in the war today. Our target cities are Boston, Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta, Miami, Palo Alto and LA.

As a grassroots, independent Theater Company, without a board of directors behind us, we are driven simply by our passion for the art and a duty as a former Soviet-Jewish refugees to speak up for those who can't or don't have the platform to do so. We are in conversation with donors who are interested in helping the project. With the generous help of our sponsors, we hope to be able to bring this incredible experience to many more cities around the country.
