The Story of ProgStock

From Woodstock to the Cruise to the Edge; from Star Trek conventions to Comicon; for the past 50 years, people of like minds have gathered to share their passion for the arts. ProgStock is no exception. Just like other famous festivals around the world, ProgStock will be three days of fun, food, merriment, photos, recalling stories, hanging out with old pals, making new friends, and sharing in our mutual love of the musical genre we call Prog.

ProgStock’s main stage will feature music that most radio hosts would find to be too long and too complex to play on-the-air. Dancing in 7/8, indeed, is left to fans who are accustomed to calculating high math in their heads. It’s easy to assume — because even the massive force of Apple Music doesn’t feature a decent Prog option — that the genre is dead. Alas, the Internet is largely credited for bringing together Prog’s most loyal and growing fandom.

This three-day (plus one!) volunteer-run festival was founded to solve a few positive problems. First, even though a handful of fun Prog gatherings exist around the globe, artists are eager to play in the Northeast United States during the autumn months, where and when not much else in Prog circles takes place. Second, we know that Prog fans are seeking a comfortable, classy venue to see their favorite bands perform. Add in a great arts-friendly environment that’s close to a huge airport and regional rail transportation…and that’s most of ProgStock’s story. The only thing we need for this to be complete is…You! And with you, there will be much rejoicing at The American Northeast’s Only International Progressive Rock Festival, ProgStock.

The music shall be spectacular! Even if you haven’t heard of some of the bands before, it doesn’t matter, because we assure you, they are all excellent. You’ve probably heard of the headliners, and the other acts are just as powerful and entertaining, in their own unique way. Nearly all of the music presented is original, with these outstanding musicians honing their craft and stage presentations to deliver great and memorable performances.
