Proyecto Opciones goal is to create spaces for adults with special
needs and diverse learning abilities so they may develop their talents and be part of a creative community.
The art and theater workshops are guided by an experimental approach
by real artists in real programmed settings to promote inclusion not seclusion in a safe environment where participants can feel accepted.
Due to the lack of spaces for this population many adults with special
needs spend most of their time alone, frustrated and unoccupied in
their homes without having options for where to go or what to do.
Parents find themselves exhausted and working individually without
having a community where they can progress and participate in. This
seclusion can be emotionally draining to the whole family. Sharing a
space, as a tool for the possibilities of developing a healthy and
productive life, can help engagement and building a community were
diversity can exist.
The Experimental Workshop : Art and the Experimental Workshop :
Theater began in 2017 and has established two workshops with a total
of 15 participants and 5 resources in two different settings, one a
democratic school and the other an art gallery. The workshops are free
of charge which is one of the reasons why we need your help. This last
year and a half has given us hope and happiness, seeing the great
work, engagement, friendship, interdependence and sense of belonging
that has been created for this population.
