Quynh Nguyen Piano: Resonant Voices is the ongoing artistic initiative of Vietnamese-American pianist, recording artist, and educator Quynh Nguyen. The project Resonant Voices supports solo and chamber music performances, concerto projects, recordings, commissions, lecture-recitals, educational workshops, community engagement, and collaborations with composers, orchestras, festivals, schools, and cultural institutions. The project is rooted in the belief that music is a universal language, capable of connecting people across cultures, generations, histories, and borders.
Named one of Musical America’s “19 Young Stars of Tomorrow,” Nguyen has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, with appearances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery, Berlin Konzerthaus, and the Hanoi Opera House. She has appeared as soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra, Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
Recent projects include the world premiere of Paul Chihara’s Concerto-Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra at the Hanoi Opera House, commemorating the normalization of U.S.-Vietnam diplomatic relations. Her recording of the concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra was released on Naxos’s American Classics Series. Her album The Flower of France: Germaine Tailleferre, Works for Piano was released by Music & Arts and received a 5-star review from Fanfare.
Quynh is currently immersed in recording the Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant Jesus by Olivier Messiaen, having studied with Yvonne Loriod Messsiaen for her Fulbright Fellowship and collaborating on Nimrod Borenstein's Piano Concerto No. 2.
Her recording of Chihara's piano concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra at St. Lukes was released as part of Naxos's American Classics Series in 2023. Gramophone Magazine praises the album noting that “Nguyen’s touch – in every sense – is pitch perfect. Naxos’s clear yet intimate sound completes a terrific release, one that has grown on me with each playing.” Pizzicato calls the recording “brilliant” and American Record Guide proclaims it “superb.”
In 2023, she also released The Flower of France, Germaine Tailleferre, Works for Piano [MA- 1306], on the Music & Arts label. Fanfare gave it 5 stars praising the recording as “alluring music by a wonderful composer performed by a wonderful artist."
