Rebis Lab

About

Rebis is a collective of multidimensional storytellers dedicated to creating interactive, immersive stories which integrate the audience into the heart of the narrative experience. Our stories are sensory trans-media adventures, challenging the traditional boundaries between audience, performer, and stage. Through extensive research of behavioral psychology, philosophy, mythology, storytelling techniques, immersive game design and the unique expertise of our collective, Rebis creates experiences with a mission to leave audiences transformed.

Rebis Lab, our education program, hosts ongoing donation-based classes at Arts On Site in New York City. Rebis Lab invites experts in their field to teach a range of immersive storytelling techniques in a space that is accessible to all artists regardless of fiscal limitations. We have been hosting monthly workshops on Physical Storytelling, Meisner Technique, Creating an Ensemble, Morning Preparation, Game Theater and Eric Morris Technique to great attendance.

CURRENT: Devising an immersive production of Anton Chekhov's "Three Sisters". This immersive adaptation is currently being translated and adapted by Katya Stepanov (Co-Founder) and Liba Vaynberg.

This production of "Three Sisters" is an immersive narrative experience for 30 dinner guests. Those in attendance are invited to choose from 13 fully immersive perspectives of the Prozorov's story, depending on where they choose to go throughout the performance. As time lurches backwards and forwards, sometimes getting lost entirely in the world of dreams, characters drift between the world of the past, the present, and the daydreams in-between. Dinner will be served, wine will be poured, and only time will tell whose side of the story is remembered.

In addition to hosting classes and working on our immersive production, we are developing Macro, a Story-Mapping software which will help creators visually map immersive narratives and track characters and audiences in preparation of an immersive event or production. When finished, this tool will be made available as a service for artists to elevate their events to a new level of specificity.

Rebis is dedicated to challenging the status quo of storytelling while providing the tools for artists to break the boundaries of their own work and their current chosen medium of expression. We are committed to teaching artists, devising original work and hosting events that engage a wide community and transform how an audience engages with a story.
