In 1945, the U.S. military is segregated, and whether a serviceman is classified as Black or White can determine where he serves, how he is treated, and what opportunities are available to him. "Reclassified" is inspired by the true story of a light-skinned Black serviceman whose White commanding officer changes his military records from Black to White, offering him access to a life segregation has denied him, but only if he is willing to cross the color line and live as someone his family and community know he is not. The film explores the deeply personal cost of that opportunity and asks: Who gets to decide who you are?
