Red Bird Press is Houston’s newest community-driven printmaking and art space, founded with the mission to preserve and share the rich legacy of printmaking. Following the recent closure of The Printing Museum, we have been entrusted with their equipment - ensuring that these valuable resources remain accessible to the community rather than being dispersed to private studios nationwide.
At Red Bird Press, we offer a dynamic environment where artists can thrive. Our Artist Memberships provide creatives with full access to our state-of-the-art equipment, enabling them to produce their work in a collaborative studio setting. For those who support the arts but do not need studio access, our Supporter Memberships offer exclusive perks, including discounted classes, workshops, and merchandise.
Our educational offerings are diverse, encompassing a wide range of printmaking techniques such as letterpress, intaglio, relief, lithography, paper making, and book arts, as well as alternative processes. We cater to all skill levels, ensuring that everyone, from beginners to seasoned artists, can find value in our programs. Beyond individual learning, we will host engaging social and team-building events to foster a sense of community.
We are also dedicated to expanding our reach by partnering with local schools and nonprofit organizations, offering our space as a venue for meetings and collaborative projects. Our vision is to create a vibrant hub for artistic expression, education, and community engagement, where the art of printmaking can continue to inspire and connect people.
