Repulsing the Monkey

Repulsing the Monkey is a darkly-comic, site-specific play about gentrification and the tough choices locals face.

About

Repulsing the Monkey is written by successful playwright and community organizer, Michael Eichler, who is based out of San Diego, CA. This hilarious and heartfelt show tells the story of a brother and sister in Pittsburgh, PA, who inherit a local tavern after the sudden death of their parents. They struggle with whether or not they can keep and run the bar, thus honoring their parents, or whether they should sell the bar to developers from NY or LA and make a profit. The play features a cast of six actors and is very intimate in scale. It will be performed as a site-specific production at the famous White Horse Tavern in New York City's Financial District.
