Kipper Jones along with some of music's most stellar talent, is presenting the award-winning audio/visual performance called "Respect Yourself: The Music of a Movement." The event will include a curated performance of classic songs from the most influential period of the Civil Rights Movement, as well as current takes on the Movement as it exists today.
Our Why
The musical presentation to bring awareness to a neglected aspect of Civil Rights history - the music in the fight for racial and social justice. We want to accomplish the building of a bridge - we often speak disparagingly of the music of today, but, to quote Dr. Maya Angelou "when we know better we do better," and Respect Yourself aims to teach and entertain as part of the "know better."
