"Rhythm, Sound, and Breath" is an international music residency and debut project in New York City. The initiative brings together a rare ensemble of world-renowned masters to explore the deep spiritual and mathematical connections between Japanese Hogaku (classical tradition) and Turkish Maqam music. Coordinated by producer Arif Kizilay and Musical Director Cumhur Tulay (Istanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble), the residency features Atsuko Suetomi (Koto), Ross Daly (Lyra), Sadreddin Özçimi and Ahmet Şahin (Ney), Alihan Samedov (Balaban), and traditional Japanese Taiko percussionists. The project goes beyond surface-level fusion to achieve a profound artistic exchange between two ancient modal traditions, culminating in collaborative workshops, rehearsals, a premier public debut concert in New York, and a professional studio recording.
