Rockland is a creative residency designed to support dedicated artists and writers seeking space and time to generate new ideas, complete projects, or make artistic connections in the Pacific Northwest. Rockland was founded in 2015 by Jodi Rockwell and Shawn Landis of Seattle, WA, USA. Our residency location is at Rockland Woods, a 20-acre property with a quiet lake and lush forest outside of Bremerton, WA. Facilities include a Lodge, ceramics studio, woodshop, private work spaces, outdoor canvas tents, a vintage 1948 trailer, "Sheds Studio" by architect George Slaughter and "The Black Crane Treehouse" design/build by Shawn Landis.
Rockland has supported artists locally, nationally and internationally from a diverse background of race, sexual orientation, class, age, and gender. Writers, musicians, performance and visual artists come together for an enriching experience. Emerging and established artists are equally considered during the selection process by a diverse committee that changes annually.
