About The Project
ROGUE is a performance arts theatre company based in NYC dedicated to creating accessible and affordable art for communities that are often underrepresented in mainstream theatre. Founded by Asa Nestlehutt and Haley Crawford ROGUE is their answer to audiences and theatre artists alike looking to explore the world of genre blending between all types of live experience driven events. We focus on creating theatre in unconventional spaces and fusing a wide array of genre and style from various art forms. Our premier production of M4M, a reimagined Measure for Measure will be presented November 19, 2024 at Purgatory in Brooklyn. We have cut the play into a digestible 45 pages that refocuses the story on the community that the powers that be have shafted, as a new leader takes control reinstating all the old laws and prosecuting the local community unfairly. A story with a few too many real world parallels. We are working local queer punk bands to bring our punk Shakespearian world to life and will employ a team of NYC creative artists. We are fundraising to meet our goal of $6,500 so we can pay for the performance venue and a few days of rehearsal space, a stipend for the artists working with us, and funds for design and administration for our production.
About Us
ROGUE is currently comprised of two friends and collaborators Haley Crawford and Asa Nestlehutt. We met in 2020 before we both started studying theatre at Fordham university. We have experience in, directing, producing, acting, and designing, together we have 10 years of theatre training and 4 years of professional technical work Off-Broadway. We are now teaming up officially to create a company dedicated to creating off the beat theater that intersects with the communities we are a part of in addition to pulling from the rich theatrical and artistic histories that we build upon. We are on a journey to create a lasting company and your help would be appreciated.
