Marcos Varela's latest project (the San Ygnacio Project) is a follow-up to his debut album, San Ygnacio. A musical performance consisting of original music, standards, and jazz covers of popular music, the project explores the topics of migration and intercultural exchange, by tracing his family's history along the US/Texas border -- and before that, to Spain -- through the lens of jazz and world music.
